Russian Army Will Get a New Helicopter Official tests of a new generation helicopter, MI-28N, will be started
at the end of the year, as was reported by NTV.ru.
According to the Mil Moscow Helicopter Works leaders, this machine
is going to be recommended by the Ministry of Defence as a new fighting
helicopter for the Russian Armed Forces. MI-28N can be used, in fact,
in twenty-four-hour flights and whatever weather conditions may be.
The helicopter is credited by designers as being capable to be engaged
in battle at height as low as 5m, in which case it would be practically
invulnerable in attack. The pilots' cockpit is, as a matter of fact,
an armoured capsule, a helicopter crew being suggested to survive
even through its collision with the ground at the speed of 140 km/h.
